ACCEPTANCE
STATEMENT
This piece is about self-love and acceptance; when we create the world we want to live in, we can make space to invite others in rather than trying to fit into theirs
I take the stage as a strange creature happy to be alive. It then becomes curious about the audience, comparing itself to them. This leads to a sense of sadness, of othernesss. Pulling one person from the audience it uses paint to try to make itself more like the audience, failing, it then pops its balloons, hurting itself trying to fit in.
In a final act, it offers a piece of itself to a stranger in the form of a balloon. The stranger takes on the balloon, and they dance in a world they've made together.
